What kind of records does the CIA produce?

The CIA’s primary mission is the collection and analysis of foreign intelligence information for use by their nation’s leadership. The CIA was organized pursuant to the National Security Act of 1947. The Agency has no police, subpoena, law enforcement, or internal security functions. In addition to records on foreign intelligence information, the CIA also maintains personnel files on employees and applicants.

Does the CIA have a DC office?

This newly formed agency took over the site from its wartime predecessor, the Office of Strategic Services. The E Street Complex is across from the present-day US State Department in Washington, DC. For several years, the entrance of the original CIA Headquarters buildings had no sign.

Can you just join the CIA?

Once you leave the military, your clandestine service career may still await you, but getting in is a lot more … ho-hum. Anyone (well, any U.S. citizen) can apply to work at the CIA as an operations officer by applying on the website, just like any other government job.
