The Texas Medical Board (TMB) is responsible for regulating the practice of medicine by Doctors of Medicine (MDs) and Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) in Texas. It comprises 12 physician members and seven public members appointed by the Governor for a six-year term and confirmed by the Senate. The Board meets at least four times a year and conducts various tasks, such as interviewing licensure candidates, addressing disciplinary issues, and adopting rules.
TMB also governs radiologic technologists, NPOs, and other healthcare practices, and serves as the Texas Physician Assistant Board and the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners. As a member of the Federation of State Medical Boards, TMB is committed to ensuring quality healthcare in Texas.
