Witnesses in criminal cases are not limited to people who see a crime occur. Checking the Status of a Case.

You may call their office during normal business hours.  Tell the person answering the phone that you would like to check the status of a case.  You should have your police report number first, this makes it easier to find your case.  If you don’t have this, please understand that it might take some time to find your case and you could possibly be referred to the Agency that took the report to get that number.

They will be able to look up the case and tell you what stage of the system it is and what happens next.
