About
Goldenwest Credit Union is a financial services cooperative that was founded in 1936 to serve the people of Utah. As a federally chartered credit union, it is regulated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Goldenwest Credit Union has its headquarters in South Ogden, Utah, and serves the counties of Weber, Morgan, Davis, Utah, Washington, Cache, and Box Elder.
History
The history of Goldenwest Credit Union dates back to the 1930s when Utah was recovering from the Great Depression. In 1936, Mr. Volta D. Perry, a car inspector for the Ogden Railway and Depot Company, organized the Ogden Railway and Depot Company Employees Federal Credit Union, which initially had seven members and $10.50 in assets. Over time, the credit union’s field of membership expanded to include all railroad workers in the Ogden yards, prompting a name change to Ogden Railway Employees Federal Credit Union in 1940. In the next two decades, the words “Employees” and “Federal” were dropped, resulting in the current name, Goldenwest Credit Union.
